This book is about long vowels. It is a basic introduction for younger children to launch them toward reading.

I plan to introduce individual vowels using pictures of words that begin with the various long vowel sounds.

Long vowel sounds are simple to learn. For each, say the name of the letter. So if you recognize the letter, you know the long vowel sound. In other words, a long vowel says its name.

In the English language, the vowels are the following letters:

          A         E         I         O         U

Sometimes the letter "Y" is also used as a vowel.
