Theo did not understand what the Corona Virus was. It was beyond him why the people who used to hug and kiss him kept their distance and shied away. He did not know why there were circles on all the floors keeping people so far apart and he did not know why most of the people who visited his house stood on the other side of the fence and talked so loud. He heard his cousins talk about how they used to go to see Santa at the store and sit on Santa’s lap, getting their picture taken as they told him what
they wanted for Christmas. Theo did not understand everything about Santa, but he knew he was a nice, kindly man who loved to talk to boys and girls while he bounced them on his knee. How come Santa couldn’t hug children and make them happy anymore? What was wrong with the world?
The next day was bright and sunny. Theo and his family went off to play in a park. With all the kids doing school from home, they had the whole park to themselves, so mom let their dog, Roscoe, loose so he could run free.
