You are brighter than any Christmas lights.
This was the strangest Christmas season anyone could remember, or so Haven was told. She heard older people tell their friends they could never remember a time they could not spend Christmas with their families. It made Haven’s mom so sad, she thought she knew she we would have to do something. But what could she do? Haven’s mom thought and thought. She read through the papers and watched the TV shows. Finally, she came up with an idea. She laid out freshly cleaned dress-up clothes for everyone in the family. She even made matching masks for each outfit. All the kids wanted to know what was
going on. Pretty soon they were all dressed up and piled in the family’s van. No one had a clue where they were going. Prettysoon mom was standing in front of a big window at a tall building. “We are here for the lunch time caroling!” A smiling nurse opened the door and the kids lined up before a crowd of senior citizens who smiled warmly as the lids sang their favorite Christmas songs. Haven was too young to know the songs, so she stood in front of the crowd with her blond curls framing her blue-eyed, smiling face. Her mom had dressed her in a brilliant white dress with several layers of white petticoats. She even had a beautiful white mask. One man in the front snapped picture after picture. To say the least it was a success. Mom and the kids soon left to a round of loud applause. They spent
the rest of the afternoon going from senior center to senior center bringing Christmas to everyone who watched and heard them.
Within days their mailbox was filled with thank you notes. Many of the seniors took the time to write and thank the family for sharing carols with them. It made everyone feel so great to read the nice notes. A few days after the notes stopped coming, a lone letter arrived in their mailbox, surrounded by a pile of Christmas cards. It was short and to the point. “We think you will enjoy it if you come see our Christmas Tree. Please come tonight.” That night the kids dressed up in their outfits
