One day there was a lonely caterpillar moving through the woods on a beautiful spring afternoon. 

The caterpillar looked up and saw this beautiful butterfly.

The butterfly noticed the caterpillar and landed next to him. The butterfly asked the caterpillar why he was so sad. 

The caterpillar said he had no friends and he was very lonely. The butterfly said, "I will be your friend." This made the caterpillar happy.

The caterpillar introduced himself as Beanie. The Butterfly introduced herself as Phebe. Beanie told Phebe that having a friend was the best thing.

Everyday they would meet at the same spot and do fun things. They would also play with other creatures. 

All the creatures had picnics together and shared their friendship. They were all happy.

One day the butterfly flew to meet her friend, but he wasn't there. She looked all over for Beanie but couldn't find him. Phebe was very sad.
