This is Earth.

The Earth is our home.

And it's getting warmer.

Too warm.

Our planet is getting too hot because humans let too much gas pollution into the air.

The heat of the sun gets stuck under these gases and the planet gets hotter.

We call this global warming.

Global warming is bad for the earth because it makes ocean ice melt. This can make the water get too high...

...and some of the world's land go underwater.

Many animals can't live if the Earth's temperature goes up.

And if it gets too hot, people can't live either.

This is a very special girl.

Her name is Greta Thunberg.

She was born on January 3rd, 2003 in one of the biggest cities in Sweden.

She heard about global warming when she was just 8 years old.

It made her very sad.

Something needs to be done about this!

A few years later, she decided she wanted to do something about it.

She stopped going to school, and instead, she sat outside the Swedish government building. She was 15.

She was trying to get the attention of the Swedish leaders and tell them to stop putting so much gas pollution into the air. (Remember, this pollution is what causes global warming).

At first, she was all by herself.

But in the next few weeks, she became popular on the internet and on the news.

I wonder what that means...

That sounds important!

What can we do?

People were starting to listen to her.

Other kids around the world started to skip school too, or march in the streets, asking for an end to the pollution.
