Mina said goodbye to her mother and began her journey to school in hopes of making some new friends. On her way to school she saw a boy who was wearing the same uniform to hers. Mina ran up to the little boy and shouted, “ Hey, boy in the green uniform!”
The little boy turned around fast wondering who called out. He saw a girl wearing the same uniform running up to him.
Mina stopped at a distance and introduced herself. “ Hi I’m Mina, I saw your uniform and noticed that we go to the same school. What's your name?”. The boy, a little bit confused, said, “ I’m Axel, I just got here yesterday. I’m new to the school.”
Hi, I'm Mina!
I'm Axel.
Mina understood what Axel said and she knew that he probably felt a bit nervous and scared since it’s his first day.
“ Do you want to be friends with me? I can be your first friend at school.”, She responded with a smile. Axel agreed to Mina and they continued walking to school. They talked about other things, their favorite sport, favorite color, even what kind of dogs they have.
When Mina and Axel got to school they had makers on the floor that separated them both. They were six feet apart.
When they entered the classroom, they were able to pick their desk. The desks had shields all around it, and there was a lot of distance between the desks.
All the other kids chose where they were going to sit at and the teacher started class. Mrs. Wigglebottom started to introduce herself, “ Hello class, I am Mrs. Wigglebottom and this is a reading class. I want everyone to go around and introduce yourself, say your name and how old you are. We will start from the right side of the classroom first.”
After we said our names she began to tell us about herself and her life. The bell rang, and everyone left class. Mina and Axel run up to the entrance of the school playing a race. Mina won their little race. Axel was out of breath but laughing at Mina because her hair was messed up. They both laughed a bit while Mina fixed her hair.
They walked a couple of steps and talked about random stuff. Axel became comfortable with Mina and decided to ask her to come to his birthday party. “ Hey, Mina. Did you know it's my birthday, I'm turning 9 today.” “What!” Mina replied, “How come you didn’t tell me earlier, Happy birthday!” Axel was a little shy to ask her to come over, but he gathered all of his courage and asked her.
Should I ask mom?
“Mina, can you come to my birthday party, I’m gonna have cupcakes and we can play some cool games.” Axel blurted out. Mina thought about it and was debating if she should ask her mom, but then she reminded herself about what her mom had said about making new friends.
