"What are you doing this weekend James? Do you want to come over and play?"

"Unfortunately Sarah, I can’t come to your house and play this weekend. My family and I are celebrating Lunar New Year!”

“New Year? That was last month. Why are you celebrating it again this weekend?” Sarah asked.

“No, my family isn’t celebrating the regular new year, we are celebrating the Lunar New Year” replied James.

“Wait, I have never heard of Lunar New Year. What is the difference between that holiday and the other new years on January 1st?” asked Sarah.

“The new year that is celebrated on January 1st is based on the Gregorian calendar. Lunar New Year is based on the moon cycles” James answered.

“Oh wow, that is interesting! Does your family do anything special for the Lunar New Year?” Sarah questioned.

“Yeah, we have many special traditions we do on the new year” James replied.

“What are some of your favorite traditions?” asked Sarah.

“It’s hard for me to pick just one! I really enjoy getting to celebrate with my big family and also getting to eat a lot of different foods!" said James.
