
What is the circulatory system?

The circulatory system is the body system that contains your heart, blood vessels, arteries, and veins.
Arteries carry blood away from the heart and veins carry blood to the heart.
The circulatory system makes sure the heart and body has oxygen, hormones, and other nutrients to keep you alive.
This system is also responsible for removing bad things in the blood, like carbon dioxide.
You breathe in oxygen and it is absorbed into your blood, then you breath out carbon dixoide removing it from your body.


What organs are in this system?
There are many organs that work together in the circulatory system.
The heart is the most important organ in this body system. It pumps blood to the whole body through blood vessels.
The lungs give oxygen to the blood and take carbon dioxide out of the body.


The arteries carry blood away from the heart.
the coronary vessels in the heart provide the heart muscles with blood.
the portal vessels carry blood from the stomach, intestines and other organs to the liver
The veins carry blood from the body and lungs to the heart.


The cappilaries provide the skin with blood.

What are some cool facts bout this body system
An average adult human has between 10 and 12 pints of blood flowing through their circulatory system.
The blood in your body actually makes up around 8% of your body weight.
The heart beats over 2 million times in the span of a 75 year olds life.
Blood is actually liquid tissue, body fuild makes up more than half and the rest is plasma and red and white blood cells.
