  • Play provides opportunities for children to develop their language and social skills. It is never fun to play alone and hence, parents and caregivers can provide opportunities for children to engage in meaningful play by introducing them sentence starter e.g. 'May I play with...?' or 'Would you like to join me ?'
In this book, children hesitate as they lack the play skills to invite others to join them in the play. Some are not willing to share toys and take turns with their peers. When children play with their peers, they not only have fun but also cultivate social (use polite words and turn taking) and language skills that enable them to be competent beings who can get along with others.
