Sandy the Snake, a story sponsored
by the letter S! Enjoy!

Sandy the Snake liked slithering through
the soil, playing under the sun in the sand
and snow and having fun with school
students and their sisters, siblings...
snowball fights, snowman building,
snowboarding, skiing, sand games...

Sandy had seven snake siblings. She had six
sisters: Susan, Sarah, Stephanie, Sophie,
Savannah and Stella, and one brother:
Simon.

Sandy and her siblings went to school and
were smart students because they studied
hard. Sandy and her sisters liked science and
writing stories. Simon was strong and liked
sports, especially swimming. Simon’s
swimming style was as smooth as snow.

Slowly, Stink the Slug, a school bully, got
jealous of the smart Sandy. Stink sucked at
school work, mostly science and story-writing.
Sandy didn’t realize the slug was jealous until
somebody said: “Stink wants to be as smart at
science and writing stories as you Sandy, so
smarten up and watch out.”

One snowy school day, Stink the Slug stalked
up to Sandy with his skunk student friends and
said: “Stupid Sandy, stop being smarter at
science and stories than us or you, Susan,
Sarah and all your other sisters and siblings
will see what happens in this stupid, stinky
school.”

Stink continued to say his spiteful speech:
“You’re just a science snake that’s as stupid as
the snow falling soundlessly on the school
steps,” the Skunk finished.

Sandy didn’t say anything as students from
school watched Stink the Slug and his skunks
stalk off before slipping silently away from the
scene and towards the school, science lab or
story-writing school-room.

That night, Sandy lay in bed, seeing the sky
get darker before saying silently Stink’s strong
words to herself: “Stupid Sandy… See what
happens at this stupid, stinky school…Just a
science snake…Just as stupid.” The spiteful
words Stink the Slug had said stung Sandy’s
heart and she tried to stay smart and calm.
Suddenly, she decided to silently slip out of the
soundless bedroom and she stalked off to the
sofa, slowly sat down and soon was sleeping
soundly and snoring loudly on the soft sofa.

Sandy went to school worried about Stink the
Slug and the strong words he’d said. She
decided that she would beat stupid Stink and
his skunk students in science and stories and
when she stood on the smart student stage
Stink would stare at the solid silver trophy she
would have. She would show Stink he stunk at
school!
