Pedro the Parrotfish lives in San Pedro.
He is beautiful, colorful, and likes to clean the reef.
Pedro likes to help other fish by telling them not to eat the garbage in the ocean.
One sunny day, Pedro was having a nice swim around the beautiful reef...
...then people started throwing trash on him so he swam away to the mangroves.
Pedro meets a baby fish named Squishy Jr. while swimming around the prop roots.
Pedro asks Squishy Jr.:
-“What are you doing?”
Squishy Jr. replies:
- “I’m hiding from bigger fish, crocodiles and other predators.”
Pedro asks:
-“Why do you love the mangroves?”
Squishy Jr. says:
- “It’s a perfect hiding spot, they keep the sand down, and keep the water clean for me and my family. They also provide a nursery for babies to hide in.”
Then, Pedro is chased out of the mangroves by a hungry crocodile!
Luckily, he arrives safely to the seagrass beds.
Pedro meets Star the Stingray and Sally the Sea Star.
Star the Stingray says:
-“Welcome to the seagrass, Pedro! I’ll protect you and keep you safe under my wings. The seagrass helps us hide from fishermen.”
Sally the Sea Star adds:
-“Thank you for coming!”
Together they say:
- “The sand is soft here. The seagrass holds down the sand so it doesn’t go away."
Pedro travels a little farther through the seagrass and meets Marty the Manatee.
Marty the Manatee almost eats Pedro because he is camouflaged in the seagrass.
Star the Stingray swims fast and grabs Pedro by his fin. Then, Pedro swims quickly out to the reef.
Pedro arrives to the reef and notices dead sea fans, garbage, and some seagrass.
Then, he sees a school of parrotfish far away and wants to catch up to them.
He meets Oskar the Nurse Shark and asks for directions, but Oskar sends him the wrong way and tries to eat him.
He avoids getting eaten by hiding in a treasure chest in a shipwreck.

There he meets Wiggles the Octopus who tells him:
- “You’ve got to get out! This is the shark’s home and he is going to eat you! Head to the deep sea!”
Pedro arrives to the deep sea and it is really dark, cold, and scary.
Pedro meets Aaron the Anglerfish. He attracts Pedro with his bright light.
He mistakes the light for a bright coral and eats it.
Then, he becomes bioluminescent!
