It was a bright and early Monday morning, and
Jordan was fast asleep.

"Jordan, wake up! Your going to be late for
school." His mother had come into his room.
"Why are your lights and tv still on? Don't you
know your wasting good energy?"

Jordan went to the bathroom to brush his
teeth and wash his face. As his mother
walks by she sees that he has the water
running. "JORDAN, TURN OFF THAT
WATER!" she yells. "Okay Mom."

Jordan turns the water off, quickly
finishes dressing, and hurries outside to
catch the bus.

Ten minutes later Jordan arrives at school, and
runs into his science teacher in the school
yard. "Hey Mr. Clark. Are we doing anything
fun in class today?" "Yes actually, were
learning about the Earth's climate. You won't
want to miss it, see you later."

Later that day Jordan is sitting in Mr. Clark's
science class learning about the Earth's
climate change, when he slowly drifts into a
deep sleep and begins to dream.

"Yo Jordan, wake up!" Jordan opens his eyes
and sees a boy about his age, but he looked
different from other little boys. His hair was
grass green and his eyes were sky blue.

"Who are you? Where did you come from? And
where is everyone?" Jordan asks. "Well, Mother
Earth and Father Time had a son, that's me,
Bobby Earth, but you can call me Bob. You fell
asleep during an important lesson during class.
I'm here to make sure you get all the facts."

"Climate change is a change in the Earth's
temperature. Right now the Earth's temperature is
rising due to increased levels of greenhouse gases,
which are also known as heat-trapping gases. This,
in large part, is due to human activities."

"What kinds of gases are humans releasing?"
Jordan asks. "I'm glad you asked. Humans are
releasing tons of carbon dioxide into the Earth's
atmosphere everyday. The carbon dioxide is
heating the Earth and causing glaciers to melt
and sea levels are rising. As a result, coastal
communities around the world are in danger of
being flooded or damaged in storms."

"What exactly are people doing to release so
much carbon dioxide, and where in the world is all
this flooding happening?"
"Well, one country that has suffered greatly from
climate change is China. Every couple of years it
looses about a foot of its land to the rising sea,
and in 2012 the people there suffered through
twenty four storm tides due to climate change."
Jordan thinks for a moment. "You still haven't
answered my other question," he says. "What
exactly are people doing to make this happen?"
"People do all kinds of things that are bad for the
Earth in their daily lives, but I want to talk about
you right now. We're going to take a look at your
day."
