This book is dedicated to my Grandma who listens to me, stands by me and believes in me.
Once upon a time there was a boy named Max. He was like any other 4th grader at Rideau Park School who liked sports, video games and playing with his friends.
He liked everything in his life except... math! He always ignored it and never did his math assignments. Everybody was telling Max that math is important and we use it in everyday life. Mom was telling him: "If you don't know time you'll be late for school" . Dad was telling him:" If you don't know math you won't be able to buy your ice cream and you won't know your change for it" . But Max did not care.
When Max's classmates were doing their math he was trying to build something with whatever he had on his desk or was just dreaming and looking out of the window. His teacher Mrs. Blanchard had to always remind him to do his math tasks. But Max only liked building LEGO or engineering new toys from different materials.
"Max, if you want to build your projects well, you need to know math, " Mrs. Blanchard kept repeating to him.
"I don't need to know all of these silly numbers! I want to be an engineer, not a mathematician", Max was answering back.
One day the boy was sitting and reading in his room at home. Suddenly an incredible thing happened, Oh miracle! The Silly Math Numbers jumped out from the textbook and spoke to Max: " Do you really think we are Silly Numbers and you don't need to know us?"
The boy was confused and could not say a word. "But every engineer should know us," continued the Silly Numbers, "You don't believe it? Would you like to see yourself?" Max was surprised and said: "Sure!" The Silly Numbers said: "Then let's go, come on, follow us!"
