New studies from NASA show us as people age, our ability to think outside of the box decreases. Being in school for years on end, shouldn't this skill be continuing to increase?

98% of young children pass NASA's "thinking outside of the box" test. When people reach early adulthood, only 2% can pass this test. But why is this? (Chary, 2019)

Standardized tests and a rigid curriculum are causing students to think in a linear fashion. My students are being prescribed medication in order to keep up with the intensity of their education.

I think I want to try another way when solving this math problem. Is this okay?

You must solve it with the method you were taught.
Would we have a preferred career if the education system promoted creativity?
This really resonated with me... Gillian Lynne, a famous choreographer had a challenging time in school and had a learning disability. Her doctor promoted dance. Would Gillian have found success had she not been told this?

Would we have more designers, artists, or other creative careers if are school system was different?

My students are required to memorize dates, formulas, locations, and many other traditional practices. These practices might be what is causing the death of creativity.

"Right or "Wrong" creates linear thinking. Many solutions are not black or white, but rather blue, green, or purple. If our children think with black and white, we are not teaching them to think outside of the box and dismantles perspective taking.
