Dementia is a general term for loss of memory and thinking abilities so severe that it interferes with daily life.
Stage 1: No decline
Everyone starts stage 1 without symptoms of cognitive impairment. Mental function remains normal.
He woke up in bed, sunlight was shining through the window, ready to start a new day. On the wall, there was a picture of his family smiling.
He brushed his teeth and looked in the mirror with a smile on his face.
He had a happy family breakfast.
He sat at his desk focused and efficiently working, he would probably get a promotion next month.
Stage 2: Very mild
cognitive impairment
The patient will start forgetting specific dates or remembering names or words more slowly.
This is one of the early signs of dementia that doctors and loved ones often don't see.
He woke up tired, he seems to have forgotten something, he almost forgot that today is an important meeting day for him.
He spent a few minutes just looking for the toothbrush he used, and mistakenly changing the wrong clothes. He still hadn't noticed those little unusual changes in his life.
He almost forgot to have breakfast with his family. When sitting at the table, he wants to get a spoon but couldn't pronounce the word "spoon", he could only point to it with his hand.
work
He was late for work because he lost his way to the company, even though he had worked there for a long time. He also forgot to bring the document and had to ask a colleague to print it for him, but even so, he still couldn't call the name of his close colleague.
Stage 3: Mild cognitive decline
The stage where dementia disease symptoms may become more noticeable to friends and family. This stage won't have a big impact on your loved one's day-to-day life.
he overslept and his wife had to wake him up.
It took him a while looking at the mirror to realize it was his face.
When he went to the kitchen to have breakfast, he couldn't remember which drawers were kept for chopsticks, spoons, and other household items. When he sat down, he sat in the wrong seat and was called out by his family.
He felt so strange with everything around him.
He discovered he forgot his watch and bag so he went back home to get them. His family started to notice his absent-mindedness and forgetfulness.
Stage 4: Moderate cognitive decline
Defined as early dementia disease. The symptoms of cognitive decline are obvious, and your loved one should consult a healthcare professional.
Signs at this stage include: social distancing, moody, no reply, trouble with routine tasks
He was tired from having nightmares leading to insomnia. The room was disorganized and messy.
his reflection was starting to get blurry, he didn't know how to use a toothbrush and shaver.
Seeing everyone in the house, he panicked and got mad because he thought some stranger had entered his house.
