Turtles in the Sea
Sea turtles are reptiles. Sea turtles must hold their breath. Sea turtles live in warm oceans. Reptiles are cold blooded. They have scaly skin. Sea turtles have to travel so they can migrate in warm water.
Shells
A sea turtle's shell has two parts. The top is called carapace. The bottom is called plastron. The carapace is covered by large scales called scutes. The carapace and plastron are connected by the bridge.
Baby turtles
A female turtle migrates in the spring and summer and swim to beaches to lay eggs. She lays 100 eggs, she covers the eggs with sand. The baby turtles grow inside of the egg. They are ready to hatch in two months. The baby turtles use a sharp egg tooth to open the egg. Baby sea turtles have to make sure to get in the ocean so they don't get eaten by predators.
