Sometimes the animals in the shelter can get sick because of how clean or dirty the shelter is.


There are different ways that the animals in the shelter can get sick.


Airborne is when an illness travels through air.

Droplets are infectious droplets that travel small distances.

Direct contact is when an illness is spread via body surface to body surface.

Indirect contact is when a contaminated item spreads illness from animal to animal.

Vector is when it spreads via another living organism like tapeworms.

Reproductive is when an illness is sexually transmitted or spread from mother to offspring.
