This Book is dedicated to Mrs. Parker

This book has a lot of big words and you might not know what they mean. Here's a list of some of them and what they mean.
Molecule: A super tiny version of a chemical substance
Macromolecule: A molecule with a lot of atoms
Monomer: a molecule that likes to join with other molecules
Polymer: A chain made of monomers joined together

Carbohydrate: A macromolecule that is made of sugars
Lipid: An oily macromolecule found in living things
Protein: A long chain of molecules made of amino acids\
Amino acid: Essentially the lego blocks that make proteins
Nucleic Acid: Molecules that store genetic information

Monosaccharide: The baby version of a carbohydrate that is made of one sugar
Polysaccharide: they are made up of many monosaccharides
Triglyceride: These are made from fatty acids and make up fat and oil
Nucleotide: Building blocks of DNA and RNA
DNA: a nucleic acid that holds the blueprint for making you

RNA: Similar to DNA, it is a nucleic acid but RNA makes viruses.
Now you know these terms and you're ready to read!w

We are the 4 macromolecules . We are made up if tiny molecules called monomers, and chains of molecules called polymers. We keep everyone alive by giving them important nutrients they need.

Im carl the carbohydrate
Im Luke the lipid
I'm pam the protein
Im Nancy the Nucleic Acid

Im Carl the Carbohydrate. I am made of monomers called monosaccharides and polymers called polysaccharides. I give people energy they need to do things like play sports. Im the main source of energy for animals and even plants!

You can find me in bread, cookies, pasta, and also fruits

Im Luke the lipid. My monomers are called triglycerides. I give people energy for a very long time. When I'm not used for energy I'm helping cushion the body and make up the protective layer of your cells.

You will find me in foods such as olives, avocados, butter, and nuts.

I'm Pam the Protein. My monomers are called amino acids and my polymers are proteins. I help keep your body strong by transporting things through the body, fighting sickness, and giving support to your muscles.
