Mohit was 8 years old and he was going to school for the first time. You see, Mohit's family was very poor and they could not afford to send him to school. Mohit had worked as a helper to a tea- seller all his life. He was a bit nervous as he did not know any English. But he was grateful for the new government Act by which child labor is illegal.
As Mohit entered his class, he was delighted to see many children his age. The teacher was very helpful and started teaching him the english alphabet. Surprisingly, he was a good learner and learnt how to frame words within 2 months. He worked hard and finally could speak and read. He learnt that many children in his class had the same background as his. They were mostly working but now they studied as per the new government act.
Within a few years, Mohit graduated and was hired as a clerk in a bank. He was on the top of the world and felt indebted to the community and his parents. He realised that he would still be working in a tea- shop if it was not for the turn of events. He repaid his school by funding their charges for purchasing books and stationary.
