Stripped of all color, the world was, quite literally, black and white, and Cardres, the God of mischief and greed, was responsible for the dreadful state of the universe.
Prior to creation, Cardres tricked his two brothers, telling them that their senses of color were necessary to establish life, when in reality, Cardres was simply greedy, desiring this sense for himself. And so, with only Cardres able to perceive the color and sound, the world, separated into 9 realms, was created.
Brothers! Your sense of color and hearing are needed for the manifestation of life. Will you sacrifice them for the world?
Whatever it may take to make this world come into fruition

Cardres bore two children with his wife, Ur. Fol came first and Val was born not too long after. Unlike Fol who unfortunately was not gifted, Val was born blessed with beautiful looks. He had luscious hair, an athletic build, and such big eyes.

Influenced by his father's greed, Fol became jealous of his Val's looks, as he feared Cardres would favor his brother over himself, so he lied to his father, faking Val's death and hiring servants to banish Val.
Father, I'm deeply saddened to inform you that Val is no longer with us due to a miscarriage. The servants confirmed it this morning. It is a tragedy that fills the room with a deafening silence.
Val? Gone? He had so much potential what a waste.

Beyond the heavenly realms of Himmel, and Elva, and Arisen, beyond the freezing realms of Jutte and Framsynthet, beyond the middle realms of Mitten and Sma, and beyond the hellish realm of Slutlig, Val was held in the prison realm of Dimma where this story begins.
Despite being only 5 days old, Val was the son of divine beings with accelerated, so he already looked decades old!

Looking around, Val was in a cave covered in ice. On the ground were lichens and snow and blue-bell shaped flowers peeping out of the multiple cracks within the floor, and most noticeable was the waterfall which was covering an opening.
Curious, Val steps through to be greeted by a spirit, or vaettir, sent by his mother. Ur has known of Cardres' and Fol's wrongdoings, after all, they are family, so she sends a spirit to set Val free, explaining the situation, and requesting his help.
Your father has taken color and your brother locked you in here. The world is a disaster without our senses, so we desperately need your help.
Since it's a request from my mother, I'll accept, but where do I start?
