For children ages 7-10

Vocabulary:
Plate: broken pieces made of the Earth's crust
Convergent: Two plates push together
Divergent: Two plates separating
Transform: Two plates slide past each other horizontally
Interact: To have an effect on or change one another
Collide: To strike or bump into one another with object
To begin you must know that in our Earth we have layers
The outside part of the layers, where we live, is called the crust
and under the Earth's crust we have plates
These plates are the causes for things like volcanos, earthquakes, islands, and much more
These events happen when the plates interact with each other
The three main types of interactions are divergent, convergent, and transform
Divergent is where they move away from each other
Transform is where they slide against each other
Lastly, convergent is where they collide into each other
