Once upon a time, in a land far away, lived a jolly forest hippo. He wasn't fully happy, though. Every night, before he fell asleep, he always looked at the sky and saw birds’ fly. He always wished to do the same, to soar through the air and feel the wind in his face. He told some of his neighbors, but they only laughed and mocked him that it would never happen and that he shouldn’t waste his time. Jonny was unhappy, but what he didn’t know is that the all-mighty Dodo fairy was watching him all this time, watching him suffer. She didn’t help right away because she wanted to see how he would solve his problem.
One day, Jonny was checking his mailbox when he got a newspaper. He loved reading and the second he got home he flopped on his outdoor swinging couch. As soon as he opened the newspaper and read the first article, he burst into joyful tears, for the article read: “Do you want to fly? Do you want to learn aerodynamics? Now’s your chance! Sign up to Animal School of Aerodynamics for FREE today!”. He could finally reach his dream! He ran out of his house, and ran really fast many kilometers as fast as he could to the school admission center, all while yelling “Yes! Finally! My dream has come true!”, and the next day went to the school.
Jonny’s first class was measuring each other's weight and doing math to figure out what chances they had to fly. Unfortunately, the director told him that he had didn’t have a good chance to fly because he was too heavy. Again, his classmates teased him for being thick and clumsy. Jonny was motivated, though, and he continued instead of giving up. Throughout the classes, he designed a pair of mechanical wings, but, as the director said, he was too heavy. So, he thought to try to slowly fall to the ground; so, he made a parachute. Since he cared about safety, he went to a tall tower and put pillows. Then he climbed to the top and jumped, but he only landed with a big THUMP! Still, he couldn’t fly at all, and everyone teased him again.
It was one week before the graduation, and Jonny was nearly convinced that he would never EVER fly, but the all-mighty Dodo finally pitied him.
She visited him and said, “If you want to have your dream make a faithful deed. Long ago, there was a princess. She was forced there by her stepfather, and she was held at a grand castle. You shall yield your way through obstacles to save her from a dragon. I shall give you armor, a sword, and a map, but you shall find your way of getting there yourself.”
With a swift movement of her wand, and everything appeared before his feet: a set of gleaming armor, a lustrous sword, and a detailed map. Jonny was amazed, but he packed his bags and got ready for his journey.
The next morning, he hopped onto his magical scooter he built himself and zoomed off. As he was driving on his long journey, he came along a crystal-clear pond. He couldn’t resist but taking a sip of the shining water. The second he came to the water he saw a shadow in the water, and huge waves crashed in the lake as a giant pink object came out of the water. It was the robust Mutated Blobfish named Glor, King of Lake Ooga-Booga. Jonny was really scared, for he knew he would be no match to the overpowered king.
Jonny said, “Um, s-s-sorry, m-mister Glor-r…”
“Grrrrrrrr… Who dares interrupt my deep sleep?”, growled Grol. He showed his muscular arms
“Er, I guess I shall, um, leave you to your… stuff.”, backed away Jonny.
“NEVER!!! ANYONE WHO BY-PASS MY SLEEP SHALL FIGHT ME TILL DEATH!!!”
Grol retracted his fist and got ready to flatten out Jonny into a pancake, but Jonny dodged the attack and jumped at him. Jonny drove his sword into Glor’s right arm. Then came the most deafening wail the world has yet to hear. Glor wobbled for a few minutes and then tumbled back down into the lake. Jonny, panting and gasping, was now more confident about defeating the dragon than ever. So, he leapt onto his scooter and zoomed off.
Finally, after long hours of being sustained on Italian pizza and a bag of water, he came to a halt. He looked up and saw that he was standing in front of a big wall. There, on it was a small golden bell. Jonny tinkled the bell and fell to the ground as loud thumps echoed inside the wall. A huge red face appeared from behind it, but it didn’t look like in the old fairytales told. He seemed worn-out and was as old as his dinosaur relatives.
He said in a humble tone, “Oh… Hello, wearisome traveler. I see you have come a long way. How can I help you?”
Jonny said in a foolish voice, “I came here to take back the princess you have!”
“Oh, I see so this is what this is all about… Well come in then, and I’ll tell you the full story.”
The dragon opened a hole in the wall and invited the suspicious hippo inside. As they went through the vacant castle, the dragon asked him what tea he would like, as they entered a large dining room with a large wooden table. The dragon pulled up a chair for Jonny and invited him for tea. The poor Jonny was hungry and thirsty, for his resources have already ended a while ago. The dragon put some cookies on the table.
The dragon let out a soft smile and said, “Don’t worry. They’re not poisoned. I’ve seen many travelers like you. They always think they are.”
As Jonny started gobbling down the cookies, the dragon started telling him about why he had the princes and why she didn’t leave from him.
