Ever since Kaylee could remember, her parents owned a bakery. The storefront was a light shade of blue and with a white trim along the edges of the walls and the windows; the inside was filled with comfortable seats for people to eat their pastries. Soft music hummed in the background while customers chatted with one another.
Kaylee grew up around the bakery, with its delightful aromas and cheerful customers. However, Kaylee did not share her love of the bakery with her parents.

She hated working at the bakery because she wasn't good at baking. Every time she tried to bake, the pastry would come out burnt, too salty, or raw. She also hated how disappointed her parents looked every time she threw another failed creation into the trash. So she stayed out of the kitchen and worked in the front.

Kaylee went to bed late every night because she had to work at the bakery until 8 P.M. and had no time to do her homework. She felt very stressed and only got a few hours of sleep every night. Every day this cycle would repeat.

Whenever she tried to talk to her parents about it, they would all end up arguing and yelling at each other. This made Kaylee hate the bakery more because she felt like it was ruining her relationship with her parents.

Late one night, when Kaylee went down to the kitchen, she spotted a bowl of batter wrapped in plastic on the counter.
Although she usually tried not to touch her parents' things, she couldn't resist how delicious it smelled. Hesitantly, she grabbed a spoon and ate some of the batter.
