WHAT IS ENVIRONMENT?
Our school, home, neighborhood, city, parks, forests; people and all animals living there; river, lake, sea, forest, air, water and all other animate and inanimate beings form our environment. In short, the environment we live in is called the "environment".

3
People should live in harmony with all other living things, without destroying nature, respectfully to their environment. Any damage we cause to our environment will affect us whether we want it or not. All living things need clean air, clean water, clean food, in short, a clean environment in order to survive, and they choose the places where they can find them as their living space. The damage of people to their living spaces harms all living things with which they share that living space, but most of all, it harms itself. A healthy life is only possible with a healthy environment…
4
WHAT IS ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION?
Environmental pollution is briefly referred to as human-made degradation of the environment. The intensive mixing of foreign substances in the air, water and soil, which negatively affects the lives of living things and harms inanimate objects, is called "environmental pollution". Polluted air, water and soil means harm to all living things, especially humans. Polluted air, water and soil puts our health at risk.
5
WHAT IS RECYCLE?
One of the important factors that create environmental pollution is the problem of garbage. We dispose of approximately 5 million trucks of garbage every year in our country. However, a significant part of this garbage can be re-used.
6
Recycling means making the waste, which we do not call "garbage", such as bottles, paper and cardboard, milk cans, plastic containers, metal cans, wooden crates, through various processes and reusable, considering that they will not be of any use to us. In short, the process of making a new product or raw material from waste is called recycling.
7
WHY IS RECYCLING IMPORTANT FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT?
By recycling, we protect both nature and our resources.
We can use our natural resources such as water, forest, mines and oil, which are consumed more every day due to our crowded world, for a longer period of time by recycling. By recycling recyclable wastes, we can obtain new products without depleting our natural resources.
8
For example; Recycling one ton of paper could save 17 trees from being cut down. As a result of recycling plastic packaging waste, oil savings can be achieved. For every ton of glass converted, 100 liters of oil is saved. By recycling metal packaging and wooden packaging, we can protect our natural areas from degradation.
9
We save energy
With the recycling method, energy savings are achieved by reducing the number of processes in production. For example, 20 metal cans can be made using the energy-recycling method that can be made from a metal can produced by mining. Similarly, the energy required to recycle paper and cardboard waste is half that required for normal operations. Likewise, significant energy savings are achieved by recycling glass and plastic waste.

10
We contribute to the development of our countryRecycling contributes to the development of our country by reducing the use of natural resources, saving energy, creating job opportunities and reducing the cost of raw materials. In addition, as a result of the decrease in the consumption of raw materials such as oil, which we are dependent on, our money stays in the country and foreign currency inflow is provided to our country by selling our recycled products abroad.
11
WHAT CAN I DO?
The materials that protect the product in it in the best way according to the structure and shape of the product, keep it clean, and facilitate its transportation are called packaging.
12
The first and perhaps the most important step of recycling is the collection of packaging wastes in our homes and schools, without mixing them with garbage, and throwing them into recycling bins. Since glass packaging is a fragile material, it should be disposed of separately from other packaging in green / white glass boxes and other packages in blue recycling boxes.
13
The packages thrown into the recycling bins are collected by the municipalities and taken to the facilities called Collection Separation Facility for sorting according to their types. Here, the packaging wastes separated according to their types are taken to the relevant recycling facilities.
14
The first and most important step of recycling is the collection of packaging wastes separately, without mixing with garbage, and throwing them into recycling bins. You should also throw the packaging waste you use at home or school in the recycling bin, not the trash. In this way, by fulfilling the most important step of recycling, you will be sensitive to the environment and protect the environment, and you will be an example to your friends and elders.
15
You can also ask the elders you know to help you. If there is no recycling bin in your neighborhood or school, you can call your municipality and ask for it. Your municipality will assist you in this regard.
