There are many astonishing rock cut structures like Ajanta and Ellora caves, Badami caves and many more round the globe.

What's interesting is how could they create such huge structures from rocks?

They never had any modern rock cutting machines.

All they used were just a hammer,chisel and wooden wedges.

With hammer and chisel, small holes were made in the rock along a straight line.

Later wooden wedges are inserted deep into these holes.

Wooden wedges fixed in these holes expand when they come in contact with hot water. So hot water is poured daily till all the wooden wedges expand and the rock splits finally.

So any rock of any size is cut down into two parts with just 4 inch holes and hot water.

And the result is…..
