I had just opened my eyes in bed when I heard the rooster crowing outside.   It was time to get up.  I jumped out of bed and put on an old pair of shorts and my blue T-shirt.  My little sister Laura was still in bed when my Papaw opened the door to our bedroom.

“Come on girls, Time to get up,” Papaw says

“Ugh, I don’t want to get up,” says Laura.

“Come on, up and at ‘em. You girls are going to help me and Mamaw today.  Gonna turn my girls into Farmers.” Papaw said cheerfully.

“What’s so important about farming, anyways Papaw?” says Laura.

“Well, get dressed and I will show you.” smiles Papaw.

We finished dressing and head out to the barn to meet my grandfather.  He walked us out to the field where there were acres of corn growing as far as the eye can see.
