This book contains a collection of language and cognitive developmental milestones for the early education age student. After discussing four milestones that students will achieve for both cognitive and language acquistition, I will showcase what a typical day will look like for children in this age group.

Children learn through practice and routine at this age. An important cognitive developmental milestone for children at the early childhood age is knowing their phone number and their address.
Another important milestone for children at this age is the ability to recognize most letters in the alphabet and numbers one through ten.
Cognitive milestones at this age also includes knowing the names of basic shapes and colors. Children should be able to recognize common shapes like squares, triangles, and circles. Common colors that should be recognizable include red, green, blue, and yellow.
A final cognitive milestone that children at the early childhood stage should master is a basic understanding of household objects what their function is. These items can include a telephone, a television remote, and eating utensils (i.e. fork and spoon).
Language development skills are an important tool to acquire for students in the early childhood age group. Students between 4 to 8 years old should begin to develop important language skills such as understanding complex sentences.
Another language milestone for students is the development of speech. A child's speech should be understandable and coherent. Mistakes will be made when pronouncing long, difficult, or complex words such as "hippopotamus".
Another language milestone children display at this age is the ability to describe things they see such as a TV show, a painting, or a toy. Complex words will be used that include shape, color, and size of what they see.
A final language developmental milestone that children in the early educational age range will encounter is the use of rhyming. Rhyming is a linguistic skill that is important for cognitive and language acquisition.
