OSCAR !!

In a little village, there was a farm name La Case del Campo. On that farm, there lived a Hispanic family that owned and took care of the farm. In the family, there was a little boy named Oscar Lopez, who is eight years old. One day Oscar was in his room playing with his puppy Dokie. “Here boy, come and get it Dokie,” said Oscar very happily. He didn’t want to go outside and help with the farm; he didn’t like the farm. He said, “it’s too much work”. So he stayed in his room until his mother called him “OSCAR!!”.

Oscar and Dokie rushed down the stairs to where his mother was. He said “Si Mami”. She smiled and opened the door and said “look who’s here”. “NATHANIEL” he screamed and gave him a tight hug. Nathaniel is Oscar's best friend; they know each other since they were little; they were both the same age and they mostly do everything together. “Mami can Nathaniel, Dokie, and I go outside to play?” said Oscar. She said “Yes, of course, you can go outside to play.” “I’m going to go change, I’ll be in the kitchen if you need anything” “Portese Bien Ustedes dos,” said his mother. “Si Mami” and all three of them went outside.

Oscar, Nathaniel, and Dokie played outside for a very long time; they were playing soccer, tag, catch and freeze bee. They all had a lot of fun. Soon they became tired and decided to rest. Oscar and Nathaniel lay by a tree and started talking. “That was so much fun:” said, Nathaniel. “ I know right” ”We should do this again,” said Oscar. “Yeah, what do you think Dokie?” said Nathaniel. But there was no response. They both quickly got up.“DOKIE, DOKIE, DOKIE” shouted Oscar. The two started to panic and began searching for him.

They searched and searched and they couldn’t find him. “Where is my puppy?” said Oscar, and he started to cry. Nathaniel felt bad for his best friend. He really wanted to help him. “How about we look for him around the farm to see where he is ?” Said, Nathaniel. “But I don’t want my family to find out that I lost Dokie,” said Oscar. “Then how about we act like your giving me a tour and asking questions for me while I will look around for Dokie,” said Nathaniel. “Great Idea Nathaniel, let’s go,” said Oscar. They went inside and preceded as plan.

They decided to start looking for him in the kitchen. “Hola Mami”  said Oscar. “Hola Migo,” said his mother. “Umm I..I. I’m giving Nathaniel a tour of the farm. “ said Oscar. “De Verdad” “ What’s this all about,” said his mother. “Nathaniel said that he liked the farm and that he wanted a tour,” said Oscar. “Okay… This is the kitchen where I cook meals and bake sweets such as cookies, pies, and cakes to sell later on in our market.” said his mother. “Where do you get the ingredients from and why do you make it, Mami ?” said Oscar. While Oscar was asking the question, Nathaniel was looking around.“Well.. We gather all of our ingredients from the farm, and the reason why I do it is to make others happy, when they're happy I’m happy, ” said his mother happily. “Wow Mami; I didn’t know, “ said Oscar. Nathaniel looked at Oscar with a sad face, signaling and letting him know that Dokie wasn’t in the kitchen. With a sad face, Oscar mumbled “Where is my puppy”. Without him noticing, his mother saw his face. “Estas Bien?” said his mother. “I’m okay Mami; I’m going to take Nathaniel to the barn now,” said Oscar. “Okay” “see you later,” said his mom in a concerted way, and they both left.

On the way to the barn, Oscar and Nathaniel meet up with Oscar's dad. “Hola Papi” said Oscar. “Hola Oscar, Hola Nathaniel, what brings you both here,” said his father. “I… I’m giving Nathaniel a tour around the farm,” said Oscar. “I really like your horse,” said Nathaniel. “Oh, thank you; this is Chico” “Chico is one of the many horses that help me around the farm,” said Oscar's father. “What do you do around the barn, Papi?” said Oscar. Once again, while Oscar was asking, Nathaniel was looking around for Dokie. “Well… Chico and I do a lot of things around the farm; we help move stuff around the farm and we help plow the field so that our fruit and vegetables can grow” said his father. “Really; I didn’t know” “Why do you do it,” said Oscar. “I do it because our farm and family count on us to keep it running: like your Abuelo once said happy farm happy family,” says his father. Once again, Nathaniel looked at Oscar with a sad face, letting him know that Dokie wasn’t in the barn.“Where is my puppy” mumbled Oscar tearfully. He quickly changed his face and said,” Thank you Papi; I’m going to take Nathaniel to the Hayfield now”. “Okay; ten Cuidado,” said his father. “We will,” said Oscar, and they both left.

When Oscar and Nathaniel arrived at the hay field, Oscar saw his grandfather. “Abuelito!” said Oscar, hugging him tightly. “What are you doing here, Abuelito,” said Oscar. “I’m here helping your father with the hay, and you,” said his grandfather. “I’m here giving Nathaniel a tour around the farm,” said Oscar. “That’s good” “How do you like el campo Nathaniel.” said his grandfather “It’s so cool; I got to see a big horse, The horse was beautiful,” said Nathaniel excitedly. "That's good to hear," said his grandfather. "Abuelito, do you like the farm," said Oscar. While Oscar was asking, Nathaniel was looking around. "Claro Que si" "As a family farm, we take great pride in it, and it means a lot to us and the village as a whole." said his grandfather. This time Oscar looked at Nathaniel, he knew that Dokie wasn’t in the Hayfield.“Where is my puppy” he mumbled. He was still determined to find him. "I’m going to take Nathaniel to the Garden now” “Adios Abuelito,” said Oscar. “Adios,” said his grandfather, and they both left for the Garden to look for Dokie.

As they walked to the garden, Oscar saw his older sister Lorena, who was picking and gathering the fruits and vegetables from the garden. "Hey Lorena, what you doing," said Oscar. "Hey Oscar, Hey Nathaniel…Well I’m here gathering’ our fruits and vegetables” says Lorena. “Do you like doing it?” said Oscar. “Umm… Yes I do; I love doing it” “The fruits and vegetables we gather are not only for our farm but also for our family and the community,” said Lorena. “That's interesting; I didn't know you thought that way,” I thought it was something we had to do,” said Oscar. Out of know where Lorena start laughing “Your so funny Oscar” “Anyway what are guys doing here?” said Lorena.“Oscar is giving me a tour around the farm” said Nathaniel. While Nathaniel was answering the question, this time Oscar was the one who was looking around. While he looking around he didn’t see Dokie.“Where is my puppy” he mumbled seriously? He began to get worried, believing that something terrible had happened to him, but he was still determined to find him. He quickly changed his face and said "I’m going to take Nathaniel to the storage room now”.

"Okay, before you go, can you please take a basket for me over there", Lorena asked. “Okay; see you later,” said Oscar “Bye,” said Lorena and they both left for the storage room. When they got to the storage room with the basket, Oscar meet his older brother Carlos. Among his siblings, he is the oldest. “Hey Carlos; look what we brought you,” said Oscar. “Oscar, Nathaniel; what are you guys doing here?” said Carlos. “Oscar is giving me tours around the farm ” “And Lorena told us to bring a basket here,” said Oscar and Nathaniel. “I see, thank you so much guys; you can put that over there,” said Carlos. “What are you doing,” said Oscar  “Well I’m making sure that all of the food in the storage room is okay; we don’t want to give spoiled food to the village; right,” said Carlos.“Your right, we don’t: if we do they will get sick,” said Oscar “we don’t want that: we must respect them because they are helping us just like we are helping them,” said Carlos.  “Do you like the farm?” said Oscar.  While he was asking, Nathaniel was looking for Doki.  “There are many people who count on me and I respect that, so I like it a lot,” said Carlos. Nathaniel went back to Oscar and he gave him the look that Dokie wasn’t there. 

“Where is my puppy” “Why can’t I find him,” said Oscar mumbled worriedly.  “Are you okay said Carlos? “Yeah, I’m okay; I’m going to take Nathaniel to the Chicken Coop now” “Bye, Carlos,” said Oscar. “Okay; Bye, be careful,” said Carlos concernedly. When they got to the Chicken Coop, Oscar meets his twin sister Elena, who was feeding the chickens. “What are you doing here,” said Elena. “What, I can’t see my twin baby sister,” said Oscar. “You're only older than me by ten minutes,” said Elena. “Relax, I’m just giving Nathaniel a tour are the farm,” said Oscar. “Hi Nathaniel; I hope you're liking the farm and that my brother is behaving well,” said Oscar. Nathaniel and Elena laughed. “HEYYYY!!! ; Anyway do you mind if we look around” said Oscar. “Sure, why not;  just don’t feed or let the chickens out,” said Elena. Nathaniel and Oscar both looked around for Dokie but they couldn’t find him. “Are guys okay, are looking for something?” said Elena. “We’re good; we are just admiring the chickens. Do you like the Farm?” asked Nathaniel nervously.  “Well yes; I do like the farm, I like feeding and taking care of the animals,” said Elena. “Cool,” said Nathaniel.  Oscar was walk up to  Nathaniel, giving him a face that Dokie wasn’t there.

“Where is my puppy?” “Where is Dokie” mumble Oscar Angrily. He was very disappointed because he still can’t find Dokie. Once again he quickly changed his face and said “ Me and Nathaniel are going to market place now, have fun with the chickens.” said Oscar. “Why you,” said Elena, and they both left.  It was a long walk from the Farm to the Market place. When they got to their Market Stand Oscar saw his Grandmother. “Abuelita” said Oscar. “Migo,” said his grandmother, hugging him tightly. “Hola Nathaniel, what are you guys doing here.” said his grandmother. “1’..1..1..um”, Oscar was having difficulty speaking, and he couldn't lie to his grandmother, since she could tell if he was lying  “We came to visit you” “Si, yes: we came to visit you,” said nervously Nathaniel and Oscar “ah, De Verdad,” said his grandmother. “Si” “Yeah Oscar was showing me around the farm, and he wanted to show me the market stand of the Farm,” said Oscar and Nathaniel. “That’s nice,” said his grandmother. “Abuelita, do like the farm, or the market stand?” said Oscar. “Yes; I enjoy it so much because I'm able to sell products from the farm, and I get to interact with people and build a relationship with them as well.” said his Grandmother.
