Hi!
My name is Alyssa, and I'm going to be your guide as we explore "Acceptable Use Policy"

First, we need to define what Acceptable Use Policy means
Acceptable Use Policy Definition
Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is a set of rules that informs users and system administrators of the acceptable and unacceptable behaviors regarding their use of information technology resources. These policies are usually created for institutions like schools or the workplace.

Now that we have our definition, let's look at some of the acceptable use policies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst!
User Policy #1
"Use only those computing and information technology resources for which you have authorization."

Or, in Alyssa Terms:
Do not use resources unless you were given permission to do so

"Protect the access and integrity of computing and information technology resources."
User Policy #2

Or, in Alyssa Terms:
Be careful with the resources you use, so they don't become damaged or unsafe

User Policy #3

Or in Alyssa Terms:
Don't copy other peoples' work or use their programs without permission

"Abide by applicable laws and university policies and respect the copyrights and intellectual property rights of others, including the legal use of copyrighted software."
User Policy #4
"Use computing and information technology resources only for their intended purposes."
Or, in Alyssa Terms:
Don't use resources for the wrong reasons. If you are using a resource to take notes, then you should not be playing 2048!
