PINK FLUFFY UNYCORN DANCEING ON RANBOW :)

"Mum, I'm going to research nuclear power," Alex said. "Okay, but quick dinner's almost ready," replied his mom. Alex had to research something called nuclear power for homework because he thought it was very cool, but instead it was very complicated and boring.
On the way to his room, his mom stopped cooking dinner and told Alex to stop. "I remember there was an encyclopaedia in the garage that belonged to your grandpa; you might find some helpful information in there," she told him. Alex turned 180 down the stairs into the garage, which was like a flea market. As he was searching through the sea of items, Alex found an opened wooden chest that had a thick leather book that had the word "encyclopaedia" just clearly enough to see.

He brought it to his room for a closer inspection. The book had a hardcover made out of leather that looked like it was from 100 years ago. After opening the book, Alex examined the ancient pages of his grandpa's treasure, and he wasn’t really sure there was nuclear power when the book was made. As Alex was flipping through the pages, he began to notice that the pages in the encyclopaedia were blank. Alex flipped through the pages like crazy because he was annoyed, but suddenly a blurry word popped up. Alex rubbed his eyes, but the words were still blurry, so he tried to wipe them. Suddenly the words became clear! He blacked out after hearing the word "nuclear power."

A few minutes later, Alex opened his eyes to find himself in some kind of portal from the Doctor Who stories. Alex panicked; he worried; he cried. "Help, help, help!" I want to go home. "I don’t want to be a Doctor Who." But no matter what he did, he couldn't get out of the portal. Alex turned pale and kept screaming and screaming, but it didn't last because he was too scared to make a sound. After what seemed like a long time, Alex finally travelled through the end of the portal into... space! The portal had sent Alex into space! He was surprised at first but quickly realised that he was falling down, down, and down to a country he thinks is Rome.

On the way down, Alex saw the Colosseum, which confirmed that he was in Rome. OOF! Alex crashed to the ground. He stood up to see a house. There, in the house, was a baby named Enrico Fermi and his brother, in the hands of a wet nurse. For he did not know that someday he would discover something so great that it would change the world. A couple of years later, young Enrico Fermi found an interest in building and playing with electrical and mechanical toys, just like his brother Giulio.
Over the years, Alex tried to talk or even just interact with the people in this strange new world, but all he could do was watch because he couldn’t interact with any of them and they couldn’t see, touch, smell, or hear him. It was like he was watching a 3D movie, but it felt way more realistic, and Alex actually started to enjoy it.
Alex had to watch all of that happen. "Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? "I want to go home; some book sucked me in here; do any of you know how to let me go back home?"

After watching young Enrico Fermi grow older, a new portal appeared. Before Alex could react, the portal sucked Alex inside. "Great, another portal; maybe it’ll teleport me back to my bedroom," Alex thought, but that didn’t happen; instead, the portal teleported him to another place. It was Enrico Fermi again, but much older.
Enrico Fermi and a small team were trying to do something that Alex didn’t understand. Suddenly, a voice spoke. "They are trying to create radioactive elements." Alex jumped in surprise, and then BOOM! Enrico Fermi somehow split the uranium atoms. "How did this happen?" Alex thought. "This is called nuclear fusion. It is when atoms split into pieces that the pieces will turn intonuclear power. The nuclear cycle, like the water cycle, will go on and on because the first fusion will power the second fusion, which will power the third fusion. This is what happens inside a nuclear power plant. The magical voice replied. Then another portal appeared. "Finally, I’m going back," Alex thought with hope. In the portal, the voice spoke again. "The nuclear reactor will be the final lesson in nuclear power." "Nooooooooooooo!" Alex screamed hopelessly in his mind and got thrown out of the portal into a construction site.
He stood up, dusting the dirt off his pyjamas, and looked at his surroundings, surprised. There were lots of black blocks and wood. Alex was thinking about why he was at a construction site when the magical voice spoke once again, giving him a fright. "The neutron modulator of Chicago Pile 1 used 45,000 graphite blocks and wood to make it, and the control rod of Chicago Pile 1 was made of cadmium." "What is Chicago Pile 1?" Alex asked. "Chicago Pile-1, or CP-1, was the world's first artificial nuclear reactor, made by Enrico Fermi and a team of people." "The reactor triggered the first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction created by humans, resulting in nuclear power," the voice answered. Just a second afterthe voice finished explaining, a loud POOF appeared out of nowhere and made Alex jump ten metres. When Alex looked at the construction site again, a new building appeared. It was a nuclear reactor! While Alex was wondering how they built the nuclear reactor so fast, a new portal popped out of nowhere right behind him. The portal gradually began to move forward: 5 metres, 4 metres, 3 metres, 2 metres, and 1 metre. "Ahhhhhhhh!" Alex screamed at the top of his lungs as the portal sucked him in.

Alex had never before dived into a portal. It was scary. Even though Alex panicked while the portal sucked him in, he stopped after a short while because he was getting used to the portal. "This is the end of this trip." The voice boomed, "I hope you have a nice day and complete your homework." After completing the last sentence, Alex popped out of the book and landed on his bed just in time to hear his mom say, "Dinner is ready, my dear." Alex sighed in relief, quickly opened his bedroom door, and rushed downstairs to find a delicious dinner waiting for him.
