He saw an old homework assignment on his desk. He picked up a pencil and
began to draw on it. He drew a stick man and doodled many other things on the
paper.
" James! It's time for bed!" his mom called. Grumbling, he stomped across
the room and lay down in his bed. He turned out the light and fell asleep. Prologue

the page. He explored the page while the other drawings woke up. He
was hungry so he went looking for food."Ah a cupcake," he thought and he
ate a large chocolate chip cupcake." Oh, I wish I could talk," he thought.
He saw a pencil nearby. Maybe, just maybe if he wrote something down it
would come to life. That was what James did. If James could do it, he could.
He wrote the words: Jacob can talk. He hoped this would make it come true.

a mustache next to him and put it on. " Hmmm,"
he thought. " It looks nice." Meanwhile, James had
woken up and had begun drawing. He had drawn
some grass and a sun and was beginning to draw
a house."Ahhhh," cried Jacob as he fell into the
wet, inky grass.

page. Jacob stood by the house on the grass,
and watched the rain fall. "Oh no," he thought.
"If I get wet, I could fall off the page." So,
Jacob ran to the house, unlocked it, and went
inside." It's a good thing James drew a key.
He is very smart.

"You know, I am sick of this mustache. I hate having
to brush it every day. So, he erased it with his pencil.
He enjoyed a couple of treats that were drawn onto
the table, then yawned aloud. He was tired and wanted
to sleep. But where?
