During a meeting of physical education teachers from Springfield School made the decision to present themselves and create a new winter sport different from football.

Where the creator of this great sport worldwide came from.

Hello, I'm James Naismith, I was born on November 6, 1861 in Almonte, Ontario, Canada. I taught physical education since 1887. After graduating from Presbyterian College theology in Montreal, enrolled to study physical education at Springfield College.

The main goal we're here for, is to make suggestions and create a new discipline capable of playing in a closed environment, to practice during the winter season. In which the students could not play football.

Well, i have been working on a new sport that was easy to assimilate, but complex enough to arouse interest. 

It was inspired by several disciplines of the time, such as American rugby (by passes), English rugby (by jumps) and "puppy on a rock", a game of my childhood in which i threw a ball and landed it in a basket at a considerable height.
