Malia's cousin Kayla was visiting Oahu from Oregon
for the first time! Kayla was arriving tomorrow, and
Malia wanted to show Kayla the fun tourist attractions
on Oahu. At the beach, she started thinking of
different places she could take her.













After Jared arrived,
Malia decided to take
him to the famous
Hanauma Bay. This is a
State protected
wildlife park, many
tourist come to
Hanauma Bay to
snorkel!










First, Malia took Kayla to Hanauma Bay!
Many locals and tourist come to Hanauma
Bay to snorkel!











After snorkeling, the girls were so hungry! They
needed some local grinds to fill their stomachs!
Malia had the famous shave ice while Kayla at
the famous Kahuku shrimp!














After eating a delicious lunch, the girls decided to go to the
historic Pearl Harbor. As they took the tour, they were able
to learn about this historic event, and how it affected
Hawaiian history.








Next the girls traveled to Iolani palace!
On their tour they learned about King
Kamehameha and how he conquered the
Hawaiian Islands. They also learned
about the annexation of the Hawaiian
nation, and the overthrow of the
Hawaiian monarchy.












Next the girls headed
to Waikiki to shop!
Waikiki is a great
tourist attraction, and
home to many of the
local beach boys.
Tourism first started in
Waikiki, the local
attractions like surfing
and shopping attracted
visitors from over seas.





After their long day the girls decided to go to a traditional
luau! The Hawaiian music and hula dancers performed as the
girls watched in the audience. Luaus took place in ancient
Hawaiian traditions. Culturally a pig is roasted and served!




As Kayla left Oahu on her trip back home, she
looked down at the beautiful Honolulu City Lights.
Amongst Waikiki, was Diamond Head Crater. She
smiled as her plane took off. 'Aloha A Hui Hou'.

Words and Locations From the Islands
- Hanauma Bay: A tourist attraction, located on the East side of
Oahu. Hanauma Bay is a State protected beach, for native marine
wildlife!
-Local Grinds: Many local Hawaiians eat "local grinds" or food that is
unique to Hawaiian culture. Some food include Kahuku shrimp, shave
ice, li-hing mui, kalua pig, lau-lau, and many more! Local foods a
very "ono"- good!
-On December 7,1941 the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor.
Overall, nine ships of the U.S. fleet were sunk and 21 ships were
severely damaged. This landmark remains a historic site in Hawaiian
history
