Once upon a time in a city named Boca Raton, there 

lived a lion named Leo.   Leo was a lion who wanted to 

go to school.  

All of Leo's friends thought he was crazy!   "Why do 

you want to go to school? they asked him.

"I want to learn and be the smartest Lion I can 

be!", Leo answered.

"Lions don't go to school," his friends teased, 

laughing at poor Leo.

This made Leo sad.

So Leo decided he would show his friends that he 

belonged in school.  

Knowing he would need help, Leo asked a nice 

couple named Gene and Carolyn Ehlers to help 

him.

Lucky for Leo, the Ehlers had been hoping to start 

a new school in Boca Raton, Florida.

They decided that their school would be perfect for 

students like Leo who wanted to learn and who 

also wanted to help others.  

"What shall we name our school?" Mr. Ehlers asked 

Leo.  

"I think we should name it something special," said 

Leo.  

"I agree," said Mr. Ehlers.   "How about something 

Grand?

Leo was confused.   He didn't know what something 

grand might be. "What does it mean to be grand?"  

Leo asked.

"Being grand means to be magnificent, or very 

special," Mr. Ehlers explained.
