Flint was a little city in Michigan surrounded by beautiful lakes and rivers, but one day, something terrible happened.
The city officials, looking for ways to save money, decided to switch the city's water supply from the clean and pure Lake Huron
To the murky and polluted Flint River.
The Flint River had become a dumping ground for factories, and sometimes, sewage runoff would leak into its waters, making it dangerous for anyone who relied on it. Disrupting the natural process of Earths water filtration system.
Unfortunately, the city officials didn't test the water properly before making the switch.

As a result, lead, a harmful substance, seeped into the water supply, causing a serious health crisis. Many people, especially young children, fell ill due to lead poisoning. Even the beloved pets in the city were not spared from this danger.
Together, they raised their voices, demanding clean water from the city officials and urging them to take immediate action.
The journey was tough, but the people of Flint didn't give up. They faced many challenges, but their determination and unity kept them going. Slowly but surely, they started to see a change.
There were many people determined to help the citizens of Flint. One group of people called the Michigan Civil Rights Commission discovered that the reason the city decided not to test the water was due to the problem of racism.

Determined to make a difference, Pastors for Social Action decided they needed to make a change, and created a lawsuit against the city and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to make sure they were doing their job to make sure Flint has clean water.
Together, they convinced the city to go all the houses in the city and provided clean, bottled water to the citizens to help slow the sickness

These two organizations, along with the affected citizens, worked together to convince the state to install new pipes to filter the water, provide healthcare to sick, and any necessary food assistance. This added up to roughly $350 million in assistance.
