Mother Tereza - the Albanian who dedicated her life to humanity

The mother
of love
The anthem of life
Life is a chance, grab it.
Life is beauty, love it.
Life is a blessing, enjoy it.
Life is a dream, make it come true.
Life is a challenge, face it.
Life is a duty, do it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is precious, take care of it.
Life is wealth, appreciate it.
Life is love, live it.
Life is a mystery, discover it
Life is a promise, keep it.
Life is sad, get over it.
Life is a hymn, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is an adventure, take risks.
Life is life, protect it.

Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910.

"I am Albanian by blood. I am Indian by nationality. By faith I am a Catholic nun. According to my profession, I belong to the world. From my heart, I belong completely to the Heart of Jesus",
are the words spoken
by Mother Teresa,
who dedicated
her life to the poor.

Her parents were of Albanian descent and they lived a deeply pious, Catholic life. During her childhood, her mother would invite poor people from the surrounding neighborhoods to eat supper with them. She told her daughter, “All of them are our people.” Mother Theresa followed in her mother’s footsteps, taking the same open, compassionate attitude toward everyone.
At the age of twelve, she heard a call: God asked her to dedicate her life to Him. She entered a convent, received an education, and was sent to Calcutta, India to be a teacher. Her new name was Teresa. In India she received a second calling from God: to help the poor while living among them. She founded a new sisterhood, the Missionaries of Charity. Mother Teresa and her helpers built homes for orphans, nursing homes for lepers, and hospices for the terminally ill in Calcutta. Mother Teresa's organization also engaged in relief work in other parts of the world.
She began missionary work with the poor in 1948, replacing her traditional Loreto habit with a simple white cotton sari with a blue border. Mother Teresa adopted Indian citizenship, spent several months in Patna to receive basic medical training at the Holy Family Hospital and entered the slums.
In early 1949 she was joined in her efforts by a group of young women, and she laid the foundations for a new religious community helping "the poorest of the poor".
On October 7, 1950, Mother Teresa received Vatican permission for the diocesan congregation, which would become the Missionaries of Charity. In her words, she would take care of "the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the maimed, the blind, the lepers, all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, unloved by all of society, people who have become a burden to society and are shamed by everyone".
