“Thunk” I opened the heavy oak door leading to the boat.
Dr.Elston and my diving partner followed me onto the boat. A big
man came out and said “I’m Captain Jones, we depart in ten
minutes.” Dr.Elston was yelling “Kaia come on,” then I heard him
whisper “I don’t wait all day for a marine biologist.” I walked
along the boat to where we were setting up to go diving. So I set
up and got into my wetsuit and diving gear. Marie and I walked
onto the diving area with Dr.Elston behind us. The warm sun
smiled down on us and the Pacific Ocean or peaceful sea greeted
us.

Just then Captain Jones thumped out and said “The currents
strong so look for the bottom of the boat.” I said “Okay.”Then
Marie and I jumped into the water. I was breath taken by the
turquoise corraly sea. I've been on diving trips before, but it’s
always spectacular. Oceans are just so vast; they do take up
70% of earth. Marie and I started to look for the clown fish.
We’re capturing videos of their behavior and sending it to
Dr.Elston. Marie went up to look over the tape while I stay
down. Then suddenly I looked up and the boat was gone! I
was as helpless as a snail on a highway. I swam around
looking for the boat, but then I realized what Captain Jones
said about the current. It must have carried me away!

I started thinking bad thoughts like getting
washed up on one of the 25,00 islands in the
oceans. But I couldn't let myself think like that
so I felt the way the current was going. I felt
for the current, and it was strong. I don’t know
if I’ll ever find the boat! This is the worst thing
in the world, I said to know one. Just then my
air was running out. I had to get back soon. Or
else this might be it for me.
