To my wonderful teacher and amazing parents.

Paragraph 1
It is a bright morning when I wake up ready for my new adventure. The sun is smiling down on me. I get ready for the day and start studying for my new project. A hands-on exploration of the grasslands is what my project is going to be.
“Let’s see what I can find out about the grasslands,” I say, studying for facts and find out that the grasslands are home to hundreds of unique species of animals. Then I pack essentials for the trip to the grasslands. I am going to meet the pilot in an hour to start the trip there. I am really excited for my new project!
“I am going to have so much fun!” I yell.

Paragraph 2
When I get to the meeting point the pilot asks me “Are you the person going to the prairies today?” “Yes,” I say, “I am.”
“Which one?” He asks.
“I don’t know,” I say, “any prairie.”
“Ok,” he says, “hop in.” I get into the helicopter. The ride took forever! When we got there, it was raining cats and dogs! The helicopter pierced the bright green grass below and chopped any blade that dared to fly up. Then the pilot tells me a fact before I go on my adventure.
“Did you know that grasslands are found on any continent except Antarctica?” He asked.
“No,” I say. Then I head for the shelter they provided for me. I search for hours and can’t find anything.
“Am I lost?” I say out loud. What am I going to do!?

Paragraph 3
After a short break, I continued to look for the shelter.
“What!?” I yell as I find what looks like a flattened tent.
“I can’t believe it!” I holler.
The shelter got destroyed by the thunderstorm that came through. It happened right before I got there! After a moment of shock from the tent being destroyed, I go exploring. They said that I’d get an emergency walkie, but I guess not. I look around at all of the life in the grasslands. The grass is a cool shade of green. There is mud as brown as wood all over the ground.
“Why is this prairie so small?” I ask out loud. “The Tallgrass prairie once covered over 140 million acres of land!”
“It is colder than Antarctica!” I whined.
I finally found shelter in a small cave.
“I hope I survive,” I said.
