This book is dedicated to kids that want to learn about Illinois. I also dedicate this to my mom who helps me learn new things. I chose this topic because I want to learn more about the state I now live in.

Lukas Krumme is a 10 year old boy who goes to Caledonia Elementary school. He is in fifth grade and he loves spending time with his family. Outside of school he also likes to play soccer.

The first people to be in Illinois hunted animals for food. They made tools from the Animals bones and wore their skin and fur as clothing. The first people lived in caves or under huge rocks. The first residents of Illinois also fished and gathered berries and seeds to round out their diet.
