Hi there! My name is Cookie, and It'll be my job to teach you about the Digestive System. You will learn all 7 steps of digestion by reading this book.

The digestive system is the organs that  take food and liquids & break them down into substances that the body uses for energy and nutrients. Digestion starts in your mouth and functions all the way down to your anus. 

"That is one of many things that makes us cookies differ from humans". " We don't have a digestive system to digestive our food properly". "It goes in one way and comes out the other"- Cookie.   *Wink* *Wink*

" Let's get started with the fun part!". The Digestive Process starts in your Mouth when you chew. Your salivary glands make saliva which moistens the food so it moves easily through your esophagus. 

"You're really lucky to have a Mechanical breakdown that helps you sallow." " It helps the process of digestion go a lot faster"- Cookie.

Next, the pharynx delivers food and liquids to your esophagus. The esophagus is to transport food from the mouth through the throat into the stomach. Stomach holds the food and mixes it with acid and enzymes that continue to break down food into a different constancy. 

The small intestine is to break down food, absorb nutrients needed for the body, and get rid of unused components. This specific organ has three  parts the duodenum, jejunum, and the ileum. The purpose of the large intense is to absorb water and salts from the things that have not been digested as food. 

The bile passes through the gallbladder which concentrates and stores it for later use. The gallbladder and liver is connected by ducts known as the biliary tract. 

"Did you know your body makes juice". "It probably wouldn't taste very pleasant like Milk but it's a powerful digestive juice called bile."- Cookie
