Hi! I'm Malala. I am going to be sharing
my unique and amazing story about girl's rights.

I was born in Mingora, Pakistan on July 12, 1997, as a muslim. My home was humble and I couldn’t wait to grow up and go to school and learn.
My father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, wanted to give me opportunities that boys only had . My mother never had the chance to learn how to read and write. Still, I hoped mine would be different .

My father ran a girls-only school. Mostly, my father used to be the principal, teacher, janitor, and everything because of less teachers. I loved school!

But one day, my dream of learning became a nightmare as the Taliban came and controlled our town. They are people who take Islam more strict.
They banned watching TV, playing music, taking photos, and most importantly, girls going to school. They destroyed many girls - only schools and made parents scared to send their daughters to school.
Malala and her friends wondered what to do.
The Taliban had bombs and guns, but Malala had books and pens to fight back with.

So, I spoke up to the world on behalf of girls and their right to go to school and the Taliban was afraid of me. So, they decided to target me. They shared my story on television and soon, they asked me to write a diary about My life under the taliban rule for BBC. I used the name, ' Gul Makai ' .

In 2012, a Taliban shot me on the left side of my head and 2 of my other friends when I was in the van - like bus while coming back home from school. I was badly injured.
