Alexandra Towers is a 22 year-old undergraduate student at Claremont Mckenna College who has grown up in a transracial family. Her two younger siblings, Mackenzie and Jack, are adopted and she was very inspired by this topic because of how much the misconceptions and judgment still impact how people think and act towards her family today.
Anytime she shows friends a photo of her family, an immediate reaction is shock because the twins are much darker than she is. It is true that her siblings were adopted but, to her, they have always been her brother and sister and why it is so difficult to understand the negative reactions. If this is what Alex faces, she can only imagine how her siblings have been treated over the years. With this book, she hopes to bring awareness to transracial adoptees and demonstrate strategies to combat bullying in schools.
