The United Nations created a set of 17 goals that help make the world a better place, they are called the Sustainable Development goals, or SDGs. People all over the world work towards each goal to help solve important problems, like making sure everyone has enough to eat, clean water to drink, and a safe place to leave. They also protect our planet, making sure the air we breathe is clean and the animals have a safe and happy home. Come along to learn more about the SDGs.

My name is Gary, and I lost my job and home after the rising rent costs in America. Now I can't afford a home and food :(
SDG #1: Egor & Osmin
SDG #1 strives for no poverty, Poverty is one of the biggest issues in the world. It is almost everywhere in the world and includes homelessness and the lack of shelter and food. People in poverty struggle with living. They lack education and employment, making their life harder by not letting them earn money.
Things to do to help with poverty:
1. Donate
2. Spread Awarness
3. Create Kits
4. Give out food
5. Make new jobs
All of these could help With the issue of local poverty, you can help around your neighborhood!
SDG #2 Zero Hunger- Nancy & Kaiya
The goal, of world hunger, is the goal to make sure that everyone can have yummy and safe food. This goal is to make sure that everyone around the world gets food. There are a lot of people that are always hungry, even though there is enough food that is produced to feed the whole global population. Zero hunger is important because hunger can make people less productive, and people are more likely to suffer from diseases.

Some Things You Can Do to Help!
- Help out at your local food bank
- Donate food to your school or community
- Eat all your food

SDG #3 Good Health & Wellbeing - Adiba & Elisama
SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, aims to help people be and stay healthy. This goal would help provide better healthcare, which in turn, would create a healthier community. Accomplishing worldwide good health and well-being is important because if everyone is healthy, the other goals are easier to achieve! Having the resources to be healthy is important- if you feel good, you can do a lot to help the world! Such as Kim and Daniel who are volunteering at a hospital to help the world because they are healthy enough to do so!

Feel better!

There are many things we can all do to contribute to achieving world-wide good health and well-being--- some things that you can do yourself!
Such as:
Eating Healthy Food,
Getting Exercise Daily,
Building Healthy Routines,
Asking For Help When You Need It,
Taking Care Of Yourself,
And Learning About The SDGs, Especially #3!
How many of these do you do?

SDG # 4 Quality Education - Lilly

SDG number 4 is called quality education. This means that the United Nations (an international organization) is working to make the amount of education given to people equal. This goal was made to have boys and girls of all ages and in all grades to receive the same quality of education. Right now some countries around the world have some kids without good education which is important for their future. All kids should have the same quality of education as the one that you get. That is what the SDG works towards. It is contributing to getting more families and people out of poverty. This is important so kids have the chance at an equal and successful future with a quality job.

Billy Joe was complaining to Ms. Kenny about having to go to school! So Ms. Kenny explained to him how lucky he was that he was getting a good education and some kids didn't have the same privilege.

Ms. Kenny was telling the kids in her classroom that they could contribute just like you!
How can I help kids around the world get a good education?
Like these supplies!
You can donate supplies to charities that will give them to kids.
We can also raise awareness to the governments to get them to make getting an education more accessible with technology and allowing teachers to have materials and training.
Education needs to be equal and affordable!
SDG #5 Gender Equality - Zoey

I bet you girls can't be as strong as boys can!
Carti had been bullying Hailey, Destiny, and Honey for being girls. He told them that they could never do anything right like boys could.

Hey man, girls can do everything boys can. Do you hear me?

Kentrell came to save the day! He told Carti that girls can do everything that boys can. Genders don't define how much money anyone can get paid or how strong they are. Men and women are equal!
I'm sorry, I didn't know that.
For real.

SDG #6 Clean Water & Sanitation - Jillian

SDG #6 focuses on making sure that everyone has a stable and clean water supply. Two billion people around the world do not have access to safe drinking water. Scientists found that about 50% of tested bodies of water in America are polluted. The United Nations is trying to get safe water to everyone by the year 2030.

This is horrible! There's trash everywhere!

One way to help get rid of dirty and unsafe water is to do beach cleanups. Beach cleanups are easy to do for free and it helps with all the pollution.

My home is clean again!
SDG # 7 Affordable and clean energy

SDG #7 is about making sure people have access to affordable, reliable, and clean energy. 675 million people live in the dark because they don't have access to clean and good energy.

The sun is a good way to have clean energy!

Windmills make good and clean energy!

SDG 8 promotes decent work and economic growth, focuses on workers and if they are being paid and treated fairly at a safe work setting for their hard work. This goal also focuses on promoting a growing economy which is the making, buying, and selling of products. Decent work is important as workers get the deserved treatment and pay and can spend money for themselves and on other businesses which in return allows them to pay their workers fairly. This is true for the economy but it is also important as it benefits everyone, including employees, customers, and business owners because of the growth they created together.

You're lazy and slow! Work quicker or I won't pay you at all!!!
I am going as fast as I can? How will I pay for food or my home?

Be aware of your rights at work! Buy or work at local and well established stores to improve your local economy!

What can I do?
Lazy! . . . I'm giving you the hardest assignment!!

SDG 9 is about industry, innovation, and infrastructure. The goal of SDG 9 is to build safe bridges and buildings and make sure that every house has clean water and power. Another goal of this SDG is to promote sustainable industrialization; such as factories and mines. And lastly foster innovation - which is being open to new ideas. Overall the SDG goal 9 is very important to make a better world.

Hey Iliana, did you hear they just built a bridge?
Ya, it's SDG goal #9, we're trying to build safer bridges.

Hey Shaiinna, what are some ways we can reach goal #9?
We can reach goal #9 by saving energy and water. People could use windmills and solar panels instead of fossil fuels.

SDG #10 Reduced Inequalities
Reduced Inequalities is the 10th SDG, a list of goals for the future made by the United Nations 9 years ago. This goal wants to make all people on the planet be seen as equal. This means that no matter what the color of your skin is, what kind of people you like, what your religion is, or any other kind of trait like these you have, you won’t be treated unfairly or differently by others.
Lots of people around the world are doing what they can to make this goal come true.
Reduced Inequalities is an important goal because everyone deserves to be treated the same, and if they are treated the same, they can all help each other and make the world a better place. Lots of bad things happen because of inequality, and they can be stopped if we get rid of it.

There are a lot of things that you can do to help get rid of inequality. Ask people questions about where they're from and their culture, or just anything special about them. Choose people different from your friends when you play team sports, and don't always go for the people you think would do best. Donate things like old toys to Toy Drives, so everyone can have a new toy.
