For Mr. Yankowsky

Kojo lived at home with his rich parents in India. Kojo lived a rich life, and his parents would buy him whatever he wanted.
Even though his parents always gave Kojo nice things, they never gave him what he really wanted. Kojo really wanted his parents to stay home more and love him.

Kojo's mother and father would always be away from home because they are working. This would leave Kojo alone and sad.

One day, while his parents are away, Kojo sets out on an adventure, without his parents knowing, Kojo leaves home to go on his journey, not knowing what he will find.

On the first stop of his journey, Kojo finds a Buddhist town and meets a boy named Genji.
Genji teaches Kojo how Buddhist people live and their beliefs, including the path to enlightenment and how to get there.

Kojo learns how to spiritually connect to the world and meditate in order to reach enlightenment. (National)
In Buddhism, enlightenment is when a Buddhist finds the truth about life. It is when Buddhist followers find inner peace within themselves. (University)
After learning a lot from Genji, Kojo leaves the Buddhist town and continues on his adventure.

At the next stop on his journey, Kojo stops in a Christian town. The people living there follow the religion of Christianity.
When Kojo arrives in the Christian town, he meets a new friend named Shai. He teaches Kojo the way of Christianity and how their people get by.

Forgiveness

Shai teaches Kojo how people who follow Christianity believe in forgiveness and don't hold bad feelings against anyone.
Christianity lives using Jesus Christ and the bible. The bible says forgiveness is known as God's promise not to count our sins against anyone. Their Bible keeps no record of wrongs and lets go of mistakes from the past. (Oberreuter)
After Kojo finishes learning from Shai about Christianity, he continues to the next place of his journey.

On the final part of his journey, Kojo finds a place that lives by Taoism. When he gets there, he meets a nice girl named Suki.
