Location
Savannas are very spread out biomes located on most continents near the equation. It covers 20% of Earth's land. Most of them are in the regions 30 degrees north to 30 degrees south latitudes. The most well-known Savanna is called the Serengeti, which is in Tanzania. The Serengeti is well known for it's large wildebeests and it is the only African Savanna that still has vast land-animal migration taking place.
Environment
The environment of a Savanna includes, the climate, the seasons and the land. The climate is humid subtropical. This means that the summer is hot and humid while the winter is cold and mild. The seasons include summer and winter. The summer is very wet having highs of 50 inch rain. The average temperature is from 20-30 degrees celsius. The winter however is dry and the average temperature is 10-20 degrees celsius. This causes grasses to become flammable and they might dry out or die because of the dry winter. When the grasses are flammable, wildfires happen. The land of a Savanna is hard. This is good for the animals since after a rain, the water will easily travel down until it reaches flatland. This creates puddles for the animals to drink from which is very critical.
Plants
There are a very wide range of plants in a Savanna. They include grasses, trees, shrubs and flowers. Some of the grasses are, Lemon Grass, Rhodes Grass, Red Oats Grass and the Star Grass. Some of the trees are, Acacia, Baobab and the Jackalberry. Some of the shrubs are, Sickle Bush, Buffalo Thorn and the Raisin Bush. Lastly, some of the flowers are, Heath Aster, Great Blue Lobelia and the Euryops.
