However, when he takes to the streets at night as Daredevil, he wears a resistent and practical costume: a form-fitting red suit adorned with his iconic devil horns (and also covered with kevlar), with his eyes hidden behind a mask that leaves only his jawline exposed.

Matt was "gifted" with heightened senses as a result of a childhood accident that blinded him. His hearing is acute enough to detect the faintest whisper from across a crowded room, his sense of smell makes him capable of discerning emotions and intentions in others. All of this,  combined with his mastery of various martial arts and his unparalleled agility, is what makes him a formidable opponent for any who would dare to try to cause any harm to anyone in his city.
