One day, Philly Phil sat on the windowsill.
He looked out at the nearby Philly Park,
Full of Willy-Nilly Philly Duckbills
and life-size Grilly-Billy's Philly Sharks.
Mommy Phil wondered if, one day
Philly Phil might become a Philly Scholar.
Maybe sometime, in the month of May,
he'd be on the Philly Dollar!

But, Philly Phil wasn't quick to drool
over becoming a Philly Scholar.
He Didn't do much in Philly School either,
Which made Mommy Phil hack and holler!
What Philly Phil always wanted to do,
What he wanted more than ever,
Was to use his Silly Philly Smart-phone,
And not bother to make each stanza rhyme!

Philly Phil and his Silly Philly Smart-phone
were as inseparable as inseparable can be.
The ganders he took into the galaxy of games
always filled him with great, great glee!
All day, until the very last Philly School bell,
Philly Phil tipped, tapped, typed, and--
T R I P P E D ! !
Philly Pill wasn't paying attention, and fell.

Principal Minstipal saw, for he was big and tall. He felt sad; he didn't want to see his student fall!
He knew Philly Phil was blank and unaware,
because into his Silly Philly Smart-phone,
Philly Phil always had a great big stare!
But, Philly Phil wasn't gonna stop using his own
Silly Philly Smart-phone at his own choosing.
So, the Philly Principal explained to Philly Phil
Just why he should let the phone down at will.

Principal Minstipal got down on one knee,
hoping to make Philly Phil see-- that
"If you use your Silly-Philly Smartphone
every step of the school way,
on all the stairs of the school day,"
the Philly Principal said,
"then you'll only want to
forever play, and play, and play!"

"If you only want to play
the gray old school day away,"
Principal Minstipal added,
"then you can't make way
for any fun in a school game,
or something the same,
like any part of the school day
that you might just find lame.

"When this happens
and you start getting into a soggy mood
about how you never snap-in
to the lesson continued,
It's a sign that maybe,
just maybe,
you should stop treating your smart-phone
like it was your baby."

"Your grades aren't very high, you know.
In fact, they've started to go very, very low.
The same goes for your classmates
whose smart-phones I so hate!
The distractions they cause
are to students like a teddy bear is to claws!
Mommy Phil isn't happy either, I'm sure.
After all, all your smart-phone does
is make you all lazy and lumpy and immature!"
