Anybody who knew Ellie knew all she did all day everyday was read. She found herself get lost in her books and putting herself in the position of her favorite characters. However, her best friend Lola never understood, books didn't interest her, but this never bothered Ellie.
"What number is this?" Lola asked.
"Third this month!" Ellie said proud of her accomplishment.

One day Ellie went to visit Lola and as she walked into her room she was fascinated by what she saw.
"What is that?" Ellie asked intrigued.
"It's my pottery, it's been my favorite hobby since I was little, do you want to try?" Lola shared.
Ellie had never seen anything like it, the beautiful handmade pot was imperfectly perfect. Holding her books she realized how 'ordinary' reading seemed to the outside world and became ashamed of the fact that it was her favorite hobby.
"I would love to try, can you help me?" Ellie said eagerly.

As Ellie tried to do pottery just like Lola she became extremely upset. Her pot was lumpy and unsymmetrical, and didn't look anything like Lola's.
"I can't do it!" Ellie said disappointed.
"You are doing great, it takes practice Ellie, I know you can do it." Lola said with a grin on her face.
In that moment Ellie decided she was going to give up, not only on pottery but on reading as well. She needed to find an extravagant hobby that she was excellent at. Suddenly, she had an idea.

Ellie decided to take up skateboarding. It was perfect, people would be so impressed and really, how hard could it be? As she stepped onto the skateboard she began to wobble and suddenly the skateboard slipped right out from under her feet and began to roll away. Ellie landed flat on her back and in that moment she exclaimed...
"Skateboarding is not for me! Who cares, its not that extravagant anyway" She stood up and has bruises and bumps all over her body, but abruptly had an idea for the most perfect hobby.

Hiking! How did she not think of this before, it was the most extravagant one yet. Just think of how impressed people would be when they hear this. As she made her way up the mountain she fell more times than she could count on her hands. Finally she had had enough.
"That's it! Hiking is not for me. Who cares its not that extravagant anyway." As she pulled herself off the ground she had bruises and bumps, scrapes and scuffs, but what she also had was a new idea!
