Boys and girls, do you know what cells are? Have
you ever imagined how cells function? I would like
to take you on an adventure to the World of Cells,
where you will learn the way cells work.

Plant Cell
Animal Cell

I would like to begin by showing a picture of
an animal and a plant cell. As you can see, the
animal and plant cells are alike. They have many
of the same cells!
Looking at the picture, Can you guess which
cells are different?

Using the pictures on the left, we will walk through parts
and functions of the plant cell.
The Vacuole is where sugar and water is stored.
The Cytoplasm is liquid used to hold the cell organelles.
The cell Nucleus store the genetic information. We will talk
about the nucleus a little later.
The Mitochondria is know as the "power house", there is
where sugar is converted into energy.
The Golgi apparatus or "Golgi Body" is a stack of flattened
membranous sac which modifies, packages, and distributes
protein and lipids.
The chloroplast turns sunlight into energy.
Surrounding each cell is a cell wall which is a hard barrier
outside the cell which help the cell keep it's shape. The cell
membrane also surround the cell and is a softer barrier
which separate the inside from the outside of the cell.

Let's take a closer look at the Control Center of the cells, the
"nucleus".
The nucleus is what control everything in the cell.
Parts located in the nucleus are:
The nucleolus which contain the RNA and proteins and is the place
of ribosome production.
Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the
nucleus of animal and plant cells. Each chromosome is made of
protein and a single molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) The
DNA is what everything and everyone so different.
The Nuclear membrane is a double-layered membrane
surrounding the nucleus.
Cemtrioles are also found in the nucleus. Centrioles are found in
animal cells and help to organize the assembly of microtubules
during cell division.
