In the forest, so deep and so green,
there is a process that cannot be seen.

Carbon Cycling is its name, and it is not small,
it drives life as we know it, for one and for all.

There are many parts to this cycle, each one is important.

Can you name the parts of the carbon cycle?

Photosynthesis is one, it comes from the trees.
Inhaling carbon for them is a breeze!

Respiration is when the carbon comes back out.
Heterotrophs exhale it, for that there's no doubt.

Decomposition means carbon breaks down,
it comes back to the atmosphere so that it's still around.

Carbon Storage is when carbon sinks come to play,
places like forests store carbon and keep climate change at bay.

Forests are important to the carbon cycle, you see,
they mitigate climate change for you and for me.

Using the soil and tall, strong trees,
forests keep carbon out of the atmosphere, no need to say please!

When we remove forests, carbon is released into the air.
When temperatures rise, well, that's just not fair!

All forests are important, whether big or small,
but there are some differences between them all!

Tropical rainforests have lots of diverse plant life,
against temperate forests, they sink carbon without strife.

Warm climates allows rainforests to thrive,
they help us, we help them, and we all stay alive!
